Chapter 19 - Becoming A Part Of Baoze

A row of people streamed into the elevator as Old Master Qin engaged in soft chatter with Li Xianyu at the back. Great-Grandma attempted to eavesdrop a few times, but Li Xianyu pushed her head aside every time. In return, she landed blows on him.

Old Master Qin remarked, “Her name was given to her by the big boss. She was a killing machine that was groomed by an unorthodox organization in the past. Killing machines have no emotions. They just need to be obedient. Later on, that organization was wiped out by people led by our big boss. She was brought back by them.”

Old Master Qin thought of the first time he saw San Wu. She was only 15 years old back then. She was an unrefined lady who had a pretty face but filthy cheeks. The look in her eyes was blank. As she followed behind the big boss, she appeared like an exquisitely designed wooden puppet.

“She has improved over all the years, but she still does not interact with people. She remembers them by their most outstanding feature, but nothing more. She doesn’t know anything about emotions and feelings, thus she always offends people by being too straightforward. She is well-known for sarcasm within the company, and has a photographic memory for remembering grudges. When you interact with her, you must be magnanimous. If not, you’ll be angered to death.”

He bid farewell to Old Master Qin, and led his party of three out of the office building.

He walked in front, while Great-Grandma and San Wu followed behind him. San Wu’s sight was set on the strawberries in Great-Grandma’s hands.

Great-Grandma did not mind having an additional companion, but she cared about the strawberries in her hands. She was like a watchdog who protected her owner’s food, holding the strawberries and staring at San Wu. “What’s the matter? It’s my stuff. I’m not letting you eat it.”

San Wu replied monotonously. “Okay.”

This killing machine, who had been groomed to do so ever since a young age, reacted surprisingly pleasantly when faced with enemies. Great-Grandma had refused to let her eat, and she obliged by looking away and no longer glancing at the strawberries again.

On the ride home, Li Xianyu received an anonymous message from the service line of Baoze Group. The message welcomed him to Baoze Group to be a glorious law enforcer, with a link attached at the end.

He clicked on the link and entered a page which prompted him to download an app called “Ancient Demon”.

“What’s that?” Li Xianyu turned around and flashed his phone at San Wu, who was behind him.

San Wu sat up straight and put both hands on her knees, maintaining an elegant and disciplined posture, which was a polar opposite as compared to Great-Grandma.

The tone in which she answered his question was courteous as well. “It’s an internal chat app developed by our company. The company will assign tasks and announce important news through this app. At the same time, it’s a platform for fellow demon descendants to talk. After all, we demons…”

“That’s enough, that’s enough.”

Li Xianyu had no choice but to cut her off. After all, this was another retarded being that just spouted her mind off. If she were to carry on, the driver would surely treat her as a lunatic.

He did not download the app and put the phone in his bag instead. He was going to download it back home, where there was wi-fi.

Beggars had to scrimp and save. Data was too expensive, he could not afford it.

Li Xianyu and Great-Grandma’s faces lit up. Their eyes widened, as Great-Grandma swallowed her saliva forcefully.

“This, this is…” Li Xianyu rubbed his hands to make him seem less hungry for money.

San Wu said, “Here you go, I don’t care about money.”

Wow, Madam, you treat money like dirt. How admirable.

Sorry, I forgot you didn’t have any left.

That was a boastful gesture.

“Yes, Madam San Wu, I have some strawberries here. I can share some with you.” Great-Grandma served the strawberries to her without any sense of shame.

San Wu looked at the strawberries and then at Great-Grandma. “Can I eat that?”

Great-Grandma nodded forcefully. “We are partners, we should go through thick and thin together.”

San Wu picked up a strawberry and put it into her mouth. The sweet sensation spread through her mouth, but the expression on her face did not change. However, her eyes glinted with pleasure as they came to life.

Li Xianyu was suddenly hit with a dose of reality. His hand trembled as he held the bank card. “Are you really giving this to me? That’s not good…”

San Wu replied, “I don’t need money and no one will ask me for money either. My wages from the past three years are all here, untouched.”

Her tone was as calm as ever, but the excitement on Li Xianyu’s face slowly disappeared.

Despite wanting to treat someone well, she couldn’t find anyone.

That sounded tragic.

He passed the bank card back to San Wu, hiding the pain that he had just lost $3 million. “Save it for yourself. Who knows? You might find someone who will ask for money from you soon. You just need to pass me $2,000 for rent monthly, as well as $2,000 for food.”

San Wu obliged as she took back the bank card.
